Pay and display at Thingvellir national park.

 

From 16th May 2016 Thingvellir national is charging parking fees on designated parking areas around the assembly site.

The parking affected:
P1. By the Visitor centre at  Hakid next to the viewpoint at the upper end of Almannagjá. 
P2.  At two parking lots near the assembly fields and Öxarárfoss.
P5 To the south of the assembly site.

The charge for a daypass on all the parking lots is as follows:

Private Car - 500 ISK

Tour operator SUVs / coaches for 8 passengers - 750 ISK

Bus with 18 passengers or fewer - 1500 ISK

Bus  with 19 passengers or more - 3000 ISK

The ticket is valid for the day at all parking lots. Parking pay machines are on the parking lots where visitors  are required to pay for a daypass which should be left visible on the car dashboard.

The parking pay machines accept all major credit/debit cards and also a  prepaid card called Íslandskort and a voucher. If a visitor wants to pay with money they need to got to he Visitor centre or locate the nearest member of staff. There will be a member of staff near the parking from 09:00 – 20:00

Thingvellir National Park also offers tour operators to buy multiple tickets or sign up for a special business card available for the parking pay machines. For further info please contact thingvellir@thingvellir.is

Þingvellir voru samþykktir á heimsminjaskrá Menningarmálastofnunar Sameinuðu þjóðanna 2.júlí 2004 á fundi heimsminjaráðsins sem haldinn var í Suzhou í Kína.
Þjónusta
Þjóðgarðurinn á Þingvöllum var stofnaður 1930. Í dag eru Þingvellir einn fjölsóttasti ferðamannastaður landsins en um 500.000 gestir heimsækja Þingvelli árlega.
