Movement of the vikings
Movements of the Vikings
It is now easier for visitors and tourists to study the Vikings’
movements through the Nordic countries and to see who they came into contact with. Funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers, the collaborative Nordic project Dominance,
Myths and Monuments is a virtual journey through Scandinavia. The project’s digital interactive travel guide allows users to visit in time and space fifteen Nordic destinations that have some connection with the Vikings and the Nordic Iron Age.
Press here to begin your virtual trip to the Viking era. The journey takes you from Jelling, Denmark to Borre, Norway and Gamla Uppsala, Sweden. Before long, destinations in the Faeroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland and a number of others in Denmark, Norway and Sweden will be added. Odin’s ravens, Hugin and Munin, will be your guides. At each location, you will be asked questions and receive answers. Pictures and panoramic displays of the landscape will serve to present the history of each location.
The Nordic network continues to actively work towards an exchange of experiences and ideas for future collaborative projects aimed at keeping the Nordic heritage alive.
