The visitor centre at Hakið is a good startingpoint for a walk 
at Þingvellir. With the aid of multimedia the history and nature of Þingvellir comes alive. Many groups stop there for a moment to view short documentaries on the different aspects of the history or nature of Þingvellir before the walk down the rift Almannagjá. From 1.November until 1.April the visitor centre is open during weekends 10.00-17.00.
