Þingvellir National Park has recently acquired a new 3d-relief model covering the area from the south coast of
Iceland to the area north of the Langjökull glacier, with Þingvellir and Lake Þingvallavatn in the middle.
The model is quite useful for basic orientation and to become familiar with the geography of the area. It is located next to the Visitors Centre at Hakið where it can be compared to the mountains surrounding the national park.
The model will be placed outside during the summer but in the autumn it will be moved into the Visitors Centre. The model was made by Sigurður Halldórsson at Módelsmídi ehf. in Iceland.
