SNOW REMOVAL AND SAFE TRAVEL IN WINTERTIME
For travellers visiting Iceland in wintertime the weather can provide different challenges both for driving and hiking. The roads to Thingvellir national park are ploughed every day but it is advised to check road and weather conditions before driving out to Thingvellir.

At Thingvellir national park the main hiking routes at the assembly site are ploughed and sanded everyday during the winter.
This map shows the hiking trails which are ploughed clear of snow and sanded. Despite this maintenance caution is advised while walking trails in wintertime and light snowchains higly recommended for shoes and boots.
