Viewing platform at Hrafnagjá open for access.
Today the Minister of Environment Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson, Vilhjálmur Árnason MP and vice chair of the Thingvellir Committee and Einar Á. E. Sæmundsen director of Thingvellir national park opened a new viewing platform on the east side of the Thingvellir rift valley. The viewing platform sits on the edge of the grand Hrafnagjá fault and provides stunning views across the rift valley from east to west.
The platform was designed landscape architects at Landslag ehf. in Reykjavik and construction was carried out by Andri Þór Gestsson and Kolbeinn Sveinbjörnsson building contractors. The work is sponsored by the national plan for infrastructure in conservation areas.
