Successful Preparation Day

The national park´s paramedic and the Iceland Coast Guard helicopter crew both appeared in a photo with the national park staff. A great visit.

A preparation day for the summer was held today. New summer time workers and those who have been at the site before were welcomed to the upcoming season, but they were greeted by the staff who have endured and sometimes enjoyed the winter months.
There is a lot going on in the national park and there are a many corners to keep an eye on. The preparation day went very well, new plans were introduced, safety equipment was looked at as well as other instruments that are useful for everyday work.
We had a very good visit from the Icelandic Coast Guard who landed at our campsite. It is invaluable to get such a presentation to be able to learn how to act when a helicopter is sent to rescue at the national park.
May month is always used for all kinds of training for new staff as well as welcoming school groups who are now flocking to us like never before.

The weather was not exactly pleasant at Þingvellir but also not unpleasant. Our lecture hall was therefor put to good use.

Summer is promising something good with this kind of group.
